Introduction
Use this WebQuest to help 4 - 6 English students learn about Australian Authors-what do you know?. The goal is to get students engaging in critical thinking.Overview
Main Topic: Australian Authors-what do you know? Subtopics: Children's Literature, , , Grade Level: 4 - 6 Subject(s): English Learning Goal: engaging in critical thinking
Vision and Reality
If the learning goal were achieved in the most ideal of perfect worlds it would look something like:
To widen the children's knowledge of Australian authors.
To foster in children a deeper understanding of how authors' work.
To foster the reading of Australian children's literature.
To develop students' abilities to confidently use the web as a source for information gathering and learning.
However, what I anticipate probably looks more like:
Based on the Vision set for this activity, the actual reality is more likely to be children gaining confidence in the use of electronic resources for research and a desire to read the work by authors the students investigate.
Hopefully the students will be stimulated and have fun working on the web and producing their information.
